About the role
Many children arrive believing they are “just not a maths person”. As a Maths Tutor you will help them see otherwise, breaking ideas into clear steps, spotting gaps early and celebrating every bit of progress, from number bonds in Key Stage 1 to GCSE problem-solving.
Key responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging maths sessions matched to each pupil’s level
- Use regular checks for understanding to identify and close gaps
- Prepare pupils for school assessments, SATs and GCSE where relevant
- Keep simple progress notes and share clear, constructive feedback with parents
Skills and qualities we’re looking for
- A clear, patient way of explaining ideas
- Warmth and encouragement that helps children take risks with their learning
- Reliability and good organisation
- Confident communication with children and parents
Experience
- Strong maths subject knowledge
- Experience teaching or tutoring children
